Anne Jacqueline Hathaway (known as Annie to her friends), was born on November 12, 1982 in Brooklyn, New York. Her father, a lawyer, and her mother, an actress, named her after Shakespeare's wife, Anne Hathaway. Anne's acting career got a jump start when she landed a role in the short-lived tv series, Get Real. It was thereafter she got cast in the Disney film, The Other Side of Heaven and also The Princess Diaries. It was felt by Disney producers that The Princess Diaries would fair better and give the young starlet good exposure so it was released first, even though The Other Side of Heaven was filmed first. After the success of The Princess Diaries, a sequel was ordered and Anne Hathaway repriesed her role as the clumsy Princess Mia. While the critics were harsh, the film still faired well. Anne continued her film career in other family friendly films such as Nicholas Nickelby and Ella Enchanted, but soon wanted to shrug off her "goody" role by starring in a controversial film, Havoc, which went straight to DVD instead of sitting through a theatrical stint Hathaway gained recognition in the controversial, but Oscar award winning, Brokeback Mountain. Other films include Ella Enchanted, Hoodwinked, and The Devil Wears Prada. Early life Mitra was born in Paddington, London, England, the daughter of Nora and Antony Mitra, who is a cosmetic surgeon. She has an older and younger brother.[1] Her father is of Indian and English descent while her mother is Irish.[2][3] In 1984, when Mitra was eight, her parents divorced and she was sent to boarding school. Several years passed at two different all-girls schools, including Roedean, but Mitra claims she was eventually expelled from both of them. Career Mitra in 2007Perhaps her first exposure to American audiences came as Scott Wolf's illicit love interest on Party of Five. In 2000, Mitra had a small, non-speaking part as a victim of the title role villain in the film Hollow Man. She appeared in the final season of The Practice as Tara Wilson, and continued that role into its spin-off Boston Legal, but left not long into the second season. She also appeared as the live action model for Lara Croft, the lead character in Eidos Interactive's Tomb Raider video game series. Mitra was ranked #46 on the Maxim Hot 100 Women of 2001.[4] In 2005, she had a recurring role of Kit McGraw during Season 3 of Nip/Tuck. In 2008, Mitra starred in the lead role of the science fiction/action film Doomsday as Major Eden Sinclair, and in 2009 went on to star in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans as Sonja, the daughter of the powerful Vampire Elder, Viktor played by Bill Nighy.
